Question: In dermatomyositis, which of these muscle specific antibodies is associated with risk of cancer?
Options:
Correct Answer: Transcriptional intermediary factor 1- (TIF 1-)
Explaination: Several myositis specific antibodies have been identified and each has its significance. Anti Mi-2 antibody is seen in classical dermatomyositis and is associated with steroid responsiveness and good prognosis. Cancer and ILD are uncommon. Patients with Anti MDA-5 may have skin involvement without myopathy (Clinically amyopathic dermatomyositis -CADM). They may develop rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease that is resistant to treatment. Anti TIF 1- is associated strongly with malignancy in adult dermatomyositis. The association of NXP-2 antibody with calcinosis and malignancy is variable. Anti SAE is associated with typical dermatomyositis
