Which of the following MRI Imaging feature suggests aggressive behavior/ higher grade of meningioma?
Explanation
*
85% are considered benign
3 general location categories are : skull base, calvarium and membrane between hemispheres
Classically, they exhibit avid contrast enhancement on MRI with associated dural tail.
Benign meningiomas typically grow at 1-2mm per year.
Radiographic features associated with more aggressive behavior include large tumor size, growth rate exceeding 2mm,irregular shape, intratumoral heterogeneity with central necrosis or hemorrhage, ill defined tumor brain interface , extent of peritumoral edema and location.
Location- Tumors of midline anterior skull base almost exclusively benign whereas falcine and parasagittal being of higher grade.
Multiple enhancing pachymeningeal foci like studding of meningiomas- meningiomatosis- malignant behavior and rapid growth potential.
