AOCN Masterclass in Pediatric Neurology for Post graduates, Delhi, 2019
The course was conducted for pediatric postgraduate residents especially those who were to appear for their final exams. This workshop intends to revise the basic facts that are expected from students in neurological case discussion in their exams. This Masterclass had combination of both didactic lectures and group work. Didactic lectures focused on exam oriented approach to common clinical cases in Pediatric Neurology. Interactive group work focussed on case scenarios of common clinical cases and questions related to localization of lesion in Pediatric neurology that are commonly asked in exams. Each group work had 10-12 students per table with two faculties each for one table. Students were provided with task to perform and were guided by the teachers. This ensured one to one interaction between students and faculty members. It was attended by 75 students and moderated by 25 faculty members. Senior faculty moderated/chaired each didactic session. The overall feedback was extremely good and students liked the active learning modules of group work.
Autism Awareness, Rohtak 2018
Association of child neurology (AOCN) and Department of Pediatrics, Pt B D Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Rohtak, Haryana had successfully conducted academic activity “Raising awareness on Autism spectrum disorder” on 29th April 2018. It was attended by 128 delegates from various disciplines including paediatricians, psychiatrists, otorhinolaryngologists, clinical psychologists, speech therapists, early interventionists and special educators. It included 30 delegates from various district early intervention centres (DEIC) across the state of Haryana. These delegates were trained for recognizing, diagnosing and initiating the therapy for children with autism spectrum disorder. Registration fee was waived off for the delegates from DEIC. It is matter of pride that AOCN continues to train psychologist and therapist working at ground level at each district. This endeavour envisages improving the primary health care services in India. This program was inaugurated by Director of PGIMS Rohtak, Prof M C Gupta during the inaugural function. The overall feedback of every session was very good from each participant. The event was also covered in the local social media (newspaper). I thank AOCN for providing support to spread the awareness on Autism spectrum disorder across the state of Haryana. We look forward to future support and blessings from AOCN in our future endeavours.
