Q. What should I eat?

A. Interventions( Angioplasties) done through the hand (Radial Artery) are known as Transradial Interventions

Q. What are the advantages of this approach as opposed to the traditional groin approach?

A. Eat a lot of green leafy vegetables. Eat healthy fats like Avocados, Nuts, Fatty fish and Chia seeds. Decrease the intake of processed food, like refined carbohydrates. Shun sugar. Avoid Trans-fat rich foods like Burgers, Samosa, Batata Wada, Banana Chips etc. Eat 5-7 portions of fruits/ vegetables per day. Avoid red meat: Mutton, Crabs and Prawns. You can also eat egg whites and low fat milk for adequate proteins.

Q. Are Carbohydrates bad?

A. All processed Carbohydrates are bad. One can have Carbohydrates with low glycaemic index like Nachni, Jwar, Bajra is preferred to wheat flour or rice. Avoid Sodas and Cold drinks. Make desserts rare. Avoid anything sweet. Remember, Carbohydrates make you fat. Also, they make you eat more by stimulating the release of the hormone Insulin, which makes you hungrier.

Q. Which cooking Oil is best?

  1. 1. Olive Oil is good. But Olive Oil may not be suitable for Indian Cooking which needs high temperature.
  2. 2. Ground nut oil is a good oil for Indian cooking.
  3. 3. Oils like Safola Losorb are good for deep fried cooking. However, avoid deep fried stuff as far as possible.
  4. 4. High-Oleic Sunflower Oil (HOSUN)( Available as Sweekar, in the Indian market), as the best MUFA:PUFA ratio and is considered as the best cooking oil for daily use.

Q. How much should I exercise?

A. Walking at a brisk speed for 35 minutes every day, 5-6 days a week are ideal. Some weight training also should be added to the exercise routine if possible. If you are busy, get down at a bus stop before your stop , and walk the distance. Do not take a lift, and climb the stairs. Climbing 10 floors in a day is a fantastic addition to your routine. You may do it not all at once, but in 2-3 stops.

Finally, what is required is the will to exercise. Where there is a will, there is a way!
